As per ANI, he said, “I was leaving for Delhi after a poll event in Kithaur, Meerut. Around three to four rounds of bullets were fired upon my vehicle by two people near Chhajarsi toll plaza. They were three to four people. Tires of my vehicle punctured, I left on another vehicle.”

He demanded an independent probe regarding this action. He said it’s the responsibility of the central and state BJP governments to inquire about the matter. He also said that he would write to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for a separate inquiry.

In the meantime, SP Hapur Deepak Bhuker said that they had captured one person with the weapons and started questioning him.

He added, “His accomplice managed to flee, a search operation is underway for him. We’ll update you when more facts come to the fore. Nobody was injured so far. We are checking the CCTV footage.”

This incident happened just a few days ahead of the UP assembly elections. Asaduddin Owaisi was campaigning for AIMIM, as his party is contesting on 100 out of 403 seats in UP.

BJP Spokesperson Anila Singh, with a shock, said that the persons responsible for this incident would be arrested.
