30th January 2022 – In a major boost for BJP ahead of Uttar Pradesh elections, congress leader Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan’s daughter-in-law Nida Khan has joined the party on Sunday.
“I have joined BJP because it brought Triple Talaq law and worked for empowerment of women of all religions, she said asserting that BJP will form the government after the polls and the Muslim community will also vote openly for the party,” Khan said.
She added, ““My father-in-law (Tauqeer Raza Khan) is talking about women’s rights only because he considers Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as his sister. I believe that a girl can fight for her rights herself. However, let me tell you that he never endorsed or talked about women’s rights in our family.”
“He is just saying this as his new political gimmick. He never supported us after we complained about the triple talaq matter. He always issues fatwas against women without any evidence or moral grounds. He is the one who never fights for his own family,” she said when questioned about her father in law supporting women’s rights.
A triple talaq victim herself, Nida Khan said, “BJP’s fight against triple talaq was the turning point for supporting the party. The security given to women by the BJP government by making a law on triple talaq will be a big issue in the elections this time.” She further said that Muslim women will vote for the BJP in the upcoming elections.
This is not the latest of a woman from a party supporting family has joined the BJP. Earlier, Samajwadi Party Patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter in law Aparna Yadav had joined BJP.
