Just days left for the Union budget to be presented on February 1, V Anantha Nageswaran has taken charge as the new Chief Economic Advisor.

The development takes place when just days left for Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, to present the Union Budget on February 1.

Dr. Nageswaran holds a post-graduate diploma from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He was Dean of IFMR Krea University.

He has also been part of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister between 2019 to 2021.

“The Government has appointed Dr. V Anantha Nageswaran as the Chief Economic Advisor and today he has assumed charge,” the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
