Republic Day 2022

Every year January 26 marks the adoption of the Indian constitution since 1950. Republic day is celebrated all over India with great show and pomp upstaging the eminence of military and culture. A flypast by 75 aircraft and helicopters stole the show in this year’s parade. Here are the highlights of happening at Delhi’s Rajpath on Republic day 2022.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the nation today morning by tweeting, “Wishing you all a happy Republic Day. Jai Hind!” Republic day 2022 is significant because it marks the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, and is observed as ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ across the country.

The National Cadet Corps’ ‘Shaheedon Ko Shat Shat Naman’ programme will be launched in this year’s celebration. Handpicked 480 dancers across the county are performing during the Republic day celebration. Only double-vaccinated adults and single-dose vaccinated children of 15 and above are allowed to attend the Republic day parade at Rajpath. Due to the pandemic, no foreign contingent is allowed this year.

The parade began at 10:30 am at Rajpath. Before the event, PM Modi paid tribute to India’s fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial. The parade march began with a salute from President Ram Nath Kovind. The winners of the country’s highest gallantry awards, including Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra, led the contingents.

People can register on the MyGov portal to watch the live event online. They also have the access to vote for the best marching contingent and tableau in the popular choice category.
