Schools in Maharashtra will resume for all classes from the following week, the state’s Education Minister said today

Addressing the media Maharashtra school education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad, said schools, in areas where Covid cases are in control, will reopen for classes from 1 to 12 on December 24. The Minister also said they will share an SOP with all schools on covid appropriate behavior. This includes a mask for all the students, one student per bench, and speeding up vaccination for students who are eligible.

“The decision was taken after thorough deliberation with the Chief Minister” the Minister added. She also tweeted they took the decision after continuous discussion with parents & other stakeholders.

“During our continued dialogue with parents & teachers we received consistent feedback about restarting physical classes along with online education for better learning outcomes. During my recent interaction with Collectors/CEOs, a similar view was expressed.” the minister tweeted.

The schools in Maharashtra were shut after the spike in covid cases during January 1st week. Several states are expected to remove restrictions on schools going forward.
